Leona Doris Zundel, 75, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Mike Morgan. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

Survivors include her fiancé, Bob Lana of Marion; children, Lu Zundel of Minneapolis, MN, LuAnn (Randy) Anderson of Kansas City, MO, Laurie Toll (Rod Ackerman) of Cedar Rapids, and Bonnie (Mike) Turnage of Pineville, LA; three step-children, Laura (John) Pasternak of HI, Tim (Robyn) Lana of OH, and Tom Lana of OH; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Irene Robinson of Cedar Rapids, Lila (Gene) Sexton of SD, Vi Klein of Marion, Al (Rita) Moldrem of SD, Ed Moldrem of CA, and Jim Moldrem of SD; and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two grandsons, Austin Zundel and Shane Zundel; and one son, Marvin Zundel.

Leona was born November 6, 1938, in Plankington, SD, the daughter of Leon and Hilda (Molde) Moldrem. She married LuVerne B. Zundel on August 29, 1954. LuVerne passed away in 2001. Leona was a homemaker, and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion. She enjoyed trips to the casino; time spent with family and friends, and had wintered in Mesa, Arizona for the last five years.

A memorial fund has been established in Leona’s memory.
