I 've known Mr. Mollman, or Gordie, as I earned his respect for almost 60 years. His son,Mike, is my best friend. Very old school and a little scary at a young age.He was my Little League coach and taught me to respect the game, which I still do to this day. He loved his Cubs and Hawkeyes-loyal to a fault, but there was always next year. I can see Gordie, my dad and a few other CR fastpitch loyalist sitting in the bleachers at Ellis Park Diamond #1 on most summer nights.I played for a fastpitch team out of Milwaukee,Wi and we came to CR to play Welty Way-Gordie was in attendance-I played 3rd base and a line drive hit off my left shoulder and almost hit the left field fence-after the game Gordie came up to me smiling ,put his arm around me and said charge the ball next time-I'm still laughing today. There were lessons to be learned if you took the time to listen and respect what was being said. I did. Alot of the Old Neighborhood are now gone, but the memories for me will never fade away and Mr. Mollman was a huge part of those memories. You now are at peace. Keep rooting for your Cubs. Thank you for everything you did for me.
