Arnold  Carl  Carver
Arnold C. Carver, 96, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014, at his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Center Point, conducted by Rev. David Hansen. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. There will also be an additional visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point. Military rites will be provided by Center Point American Legion Dye Benion Post #297.

Survivors include his children, Don (Lila) Carver, and Tom (Suzanne) Caver all of Center Point; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents; wife Leona; two infant children; one granddaughter, Patti Davis; and two brothers, Loren and Verne.

Arnold was born on December 23, 1917, in LaPorte City, Iowa, son of Frank and Mary (Bonesteel) Carver. He worked as a welder for Iowa Manufacturing for 40 years. Arnold served in the United States Army during World War II. On August 29, 1937, he married Leona Reid, she later died in 2003. He was a charter member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Center Point, the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the International Association of Machinist. Arnold was an avid woodworker and wood carver. He made the alter, pulpit and lectern for his church, when the church was dedicated in 1955. Arnold also helped construct the entire parsonage. Dad was a very kind and caring man, he had a soft spot for the less fortunate and could carry on a great conversation with anyone. He raised his boys to high standards and was very proud of them. His family was very important to him.
