Obituary for Marion Elizabeth Umbdenstock (Stoll)

Marion E. Umbdenstock, 86, of Vinton, Iowa, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Lutheran Home, Vinton. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana, Iowa.

Survivors include her son, Gary (Jane Carson) Umbdenstock of Urbana; five grandchildren and their children, Chris (Roxanne) Umbdenstock and their two children, Tyler and Dylan, Angie (Brent) McDonald and their two children, Madi and Brayden, Amber (Mike) Fry and their two children Kolby and Karter Fry, Andy “A.J.” (Heather)Umbdenstock and their two children Suki and Cameron, and Chris (Tara) Jirak and their three children, Kelli, Tori, and Asher; two sisters, Helen (Robert) Hamer of Dallas, Texas and her twin, Marjorie Bowers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two former daughters-in-law, Debbie Koza and LaNiece Sharpling; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Umbdenstock; son, Douglas; daughter-in-law, Shirley Umbdenstock; and siblings, Ester Peterson, Arlene Shield, Maxine Irvin, Raymond Stoll Jr., and Bud Stoll.

Marion was born on December 18, 1927, in Burlington, Iowa, daughter of Raymond and Eva (Turley) Stoll Sr. She graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids. Marion worked at many different restaurants in Cedar Rapids. On June 11, 1949, she married Robert L. Umbdenstock at the First Baptist Church, in Marion. The couple lived in Oxford, then they moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and finally to the Urbana area where they farmed in each area. Robert died on August 30, 2011. Marion was a ladies aide at Oak Grove Church Disciples of Christ. She collected bells, spoons, and miniature cups and saucers. Marion enjoyed gardening and helping her boys. Marion was one of the last decedents of the Sterzing Potato Chip family.
