Mary Ann (Koch Gaffney) Haren, 79, of Ryan passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014. Funeral Service will be at10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Bay Cemetery, Ryan at a later date.

Mary Ann was born December 17, 1934 in Petersburg, NE, the daughter of Louis and Bernadette (Magsaman) Koch. Mary Ann grew up in Petersburg until 1946, moving to Lamont, graduating in 1952. She was married to Vincent Gaffney from 1954 – 1981. On May 19, 2007, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Henry “Bud” Haren.

Mary Ann worked for the Delaware County Extension Service in Manchester for 30 years for Robert Hall, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Bud Haren of Ryan; six children, Tom (Cathy) Gaffney of Marion, Debra Gaffney of Guttenberg, Julie (Jim Takes) Machacek of Coggon, Michael (Craig) Gaffney-VanDeen, Jeffrey (Paulette) Gaffney both of Phoenix, AZ, and Patrick Gaffney of Palo; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-children, Debra (Wayne) Burbridge of Delhi and Lynnette (Mark) Schnittjer of Hopkinton; Tim and Scott Haren; six step-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchldren; siblings, Patricia Clark, Louis Koch, Cyril Koch, Frances Koch, Raymond Koch, Larry Koch, Marge Axtell, Imelda Streittmatter and Charlie Koch.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; a step-son, Henry “Sonny” Haren, and a sister, Jean Schmitz.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Unity Point Hospice, Cedar Rapids, IA.
