Condolences

Condolence From: April Smith (Grommon)
Condolence: I just found out about Doris passing and I offer my heart felt sympathy to her family. I was one of the many children she cared for in her home and have so many fond memories of her. She was an amazing woman and though she thrived in life I know she will be at peace in heaven with her beloved "sod town Bill". She told us stories about him frequently and I still have her books which I love to read. I hope the family takes comfort in the fact that she has finally been reunited with the love of her life and others who have gone before her.

Condolence: Dear Doris Mote Family ~ Doris and I grew up together there in Central City. For the past seven years, while traveling from California with my 2 daughters, we've gotten to visit with Doris for a few minutes each year. I will treasure her two books, letters, cards and our annual visits all the more now. Fondly, Irma Shaw, Phyllis Tullis and Wilma Lenz

Condolence: Doris Mote will be missed by family history researchers. She was so willing to share and of course there were wonderful stories about many ancestors. She was always welcoming if just for a visit or seeking information. Our family received a hand-written note this past Christmas so she was strong and caring and sharing up till the end. I know many family members are waiting to greet her with gratitude. May her efforts be preserved as they are a valuable resource and gift from her to many. And may her family and friends find comfort in the universal resurrection and that families can be together again through our Savior Jesus Christ.

Condolence From: Gary and Deb Bell, Alburnett Iowa
Condolence: Gary and I were newlyweds when we rented the apartment attached to Doris's home. I moved in in October and we were married in Novemeber. Doris was a wonderful landlord and we couldn't have asked for anyone better. She shared wonderful recipes with me, because I loved to bake and Gary and I always loved her baking. She was also a good friend to my grandparents Esther and Lyle Parker who lived across the street from her. I loved listening to her wonderful stories and she always had something to teach me. We were still living there when we started our family, our first son was born while we lived there. Gary and I both have wonderful memories of her. I actulally have some recipes she wrote out for me of some of her delicious desserts and will treasure them always. We are both very sorry for your loss and will miss her. Our deepest sympathy Gary and Deb Bell

Condolence: My sister Marla and I send our prayers to all of Doris' loved ones. My niece April loved going to Doris' place when she was her babysitter. She never let a sandwich do for the kids and made sure they had a full meal instead. Even though we are no longer in the old neighborhood, we will always think of Doris as our neighbor.
May you know God's love and peace and be comforted by her long, wonderful life and all the people who remember her fondly.

Condolence: I am so very sorry to hear that Doris has passed away. I have so many, many wonderful and precious memories of her. What a sweet and wonderful lady. She was like a mother to me from the time I was 5 years old and Jerri and I started school together. She was always there for me, guiding me and helping me along through the years. Oh, how well I remember Jerri and I making fudge in Doris's kitchen. I will miss her so much. My sympathy to her family and friends.

Condolence: I've spent the past few days trying to think of what I could say in a few words. I don't think it's possible to express the loss I feel nor the gratitude that I have for Aunt Doris. Like Cindy said, who do we call now when we need to know something? She was always there. As Dennis said, the coffee pot was always on and Aunt Doris always had a story to share....and, if you were hungry you need look no further. We were all so blessed to have her in our lives. A true strong Irish woman and proud of it, I will never forget her.

Condolence: My sympathy to Doris' family. It's been a lot of years ago, but I remember Doris fondly as a neighbor and a Camp Fire leader. I also remember the summer at Camp Hitaga when Doris and Bill were working there and they would walk hand in hand. She is in God's care now.
